I am a Latvian artist, currently studying at NABA (Nuova AcCademia di belle arti) in Milan, Italy, working towards a Ba in Painting & Visual arts.
I have a background in music, as from the age of 6 I had been training in the art of classical piano performance. However, soon enough I realised that the life of a professional pianist is not for me, and, as a way to quiet my thoughts and allow myself to exist in the physical world, I started to draw. Eventually, I left my professional musician studies and continued my studies in a different school with an emphasis on exact sciences, where I finished my IB diploma. And, even though I did not have any art classes, it was this time that made me understand how much I love arts – be it music, literature, poetry, theatre, cinema, drawing or anything else.
Whichever path I would take from there, I would always be an artist at my core.
For me, art is a way to connect with other people. A way to show them how I see the world and maybe let them see themselves in it as well. A way to show them that they are not alone. A way how I can express what I think or feel without having to explicitly say it.
I am my art and my art is me. I see life in vivid colors, where everything is in a state of perpetual motion. through my art I can both show you the world through my eyes and try to capture the movement that is always swirling around us. and maybe for a brief moment even create the illusion that the time has stopped. That the world has stopped. And you are allowed to breathe.
